Garnett, I love the tall trees leaning in, they lead the eye to the dark sky which lead down to the foreground and back up the trees! I don't think you could have composed a better arrangement than you did with your shutter! The black and white is very dramatic, and the whole photograph is stunning! It would look wonderful on my living room wall! VF

Garnett Jaeger replied:

Thanks so much Susan! Really appreciate your compliment and your insight and in depth description. Also for the v/f

Garnett, Glad that the CFC and The Art Shoppe Cafe have shown you a new vision on photography. I belong to both and they are great, and I enjoy their objectives and goals. Your photo here is a very well done nature shot done in black and white. I have done many b & w but have only posted about a dozen to my web site but they all get great reviews. I believe this photo has great detail and with the black and white touch to it, it really has done something interesting to the sky. Excellent shot, voted, Tweet, FB and Google + promoted

Garnett Jaeger replied:

Thanks John for your great insight and compliment!

Artist's Description

Tall trees in lake Shasta is the title of my newest creation. This is dedicated to my new friends in my group comment for comment.
My photography used to be normal in the subject matter I pursued
Now I know you can take ordinary subjects and put a twist on them.
Also had kind of lost interest in photography in general.
But since my membership CFC and also the art shoppe cafe, things have changed. I have renewed my interest in taking pictures, post production editing and over all stretching my artistic abilities.
This is my first black and white attempt, and yes I know the tree is not straight but just wanted you guys to see it and know how far your encouragement and your abilities has went with me.

I have lived in Scotts Valley for over 30 years which is within a few miles of sunny Santa Cruz California which gives me such opportunity for great photos. Married for 36 years to my best friend. My husband is my encourager for my photography. He is so supportive. I have been taking pictures since I was a child with my first camera being a 110 instamatic if you can believe that. Ted (my husband) bought me my first digital camera a fuji point and shoot, which was the camera I used with the Hawaii pictures, then a few years ago he bought me my Nikon DSLR. I love it. Love taking pictures,Love my husband. I always have my camera with me you never know when that perfect situation will show up. It is great when you have such...
